Default 33" Tire Suggestions

Need some suggestions.

Here's what I will have (once my order comes through):

4 door rubicon
17x8.5 (w/ 4.7" BS) AEV Pintler Rims
and eventually i'm going to get the 2.5" Teraflex BB lift

so far, the two tires that I have liked the best are...

Dnyapro MT 285/70/17 (33x11.50)
and
Firestone Destination M/T 285/70/17 (33x11.50)
(the firestone are white lettered...but can i just turn them around?)

are there any other good tires out there? what do you guys suggest.

I like: completely black tires, good road noise
also, are there any good 12.5" width tires out there for 17" rims?
what is the main difference between the 11.5" and 12.5" tires?
which is better...in which situations?

Hey bostonbuckeye17, welcome to JK-Forum. Regarding your question, I believe there are several people on here who are running the Dnyapro MT's and like them a lot. Depending on how much you are willing to spend and what kind of terrain you typically drive on, I think you would be really happy with Toyo M/T's or Pro Comp Xtreme M/T's as well. Both are suprisingly quite for an M/T and both perform exceptionally well on and off the trail. Also, all tires with white walls/letters can be reversed so that that black is out.

As far as tire width goes, a narrower tire will typically have less surface area and should therefore give you better MPG on the highway. Although a wider surface area can be a real benefit on the trail. However, most 33" tires only come in a 12.50 width and sometimes a 10.50 width.

Default How bout the Dick C's?

I am running the Dick Cepek 33x12.5 and LOVE them! road noise is minimal and they hookup in most off road conditions with proper air-down.

This is a pic of DC and Mickey T's MT's side-by-side in the same sticky mud! This pic is just after recovering a Friends FJ!

thanks guys...

now i'm leaning toward this:
http://www.offroaders.com/tech/AT-MT...overer-stt.htm

cooper discoverer STT 295/70/17 (33.45x11.8)

should i be fine until i get the lift? with 4.7" backspacing.

i know i'll be fine width wise...what about height of the tire?

I have the Nitto terrain Grapplers, they do pretty good with traction but they are super quiet on the highway, So if your only gonna be on the road a bunch, these would be a good choice in my opinion. I have 8000 miles plus and very little wear on the tread, no cupping, So good luck with your choices, Discount Tire has a banner here with my jeep on it so you can see the side profile,

I'm running the Hankook's...Absolutly love them. I run 295/75R16's on stock X alum. wheel with a 1.5" spidertrax spacer all around. Even the spare fits on the back! I have a 1.75" leveling kit up front and hardly any rubbin'

These tires clean themselves awesome. I am adding another 2.5" BB soon, but you won't be disapointed with these! Fuel consumption has decreased and I get a little road noise from them, 'bout the same as the BFG MT's they replaced. I also run them on my full size chevy 315/75R17's and my wife loves them.
