Default 33'' Tires

Will a 33'' tire fit on the factory spare tire mount? The wheel has + 00mm offset and the tire is 10 1/2 wide. Thanks in advance.

I think the stock tires are about 10" wide w/ 0" offset, about 1/2" smaller than what you are proposing. So, measure from the back of the stock tire on the carrier to the brake light tower thing. If its more than 1/2" it should fit fine. I know the height of a 33" works because thats what I have mounted on the stock mount, but with 4.5" of backspacing.

Worst case, you might have to trim the rubber bumpers sticking out of the door but probably not. I'm not sure how tight those were with the stock tire and wheel.

You're not making a huge change, its really only 1/4" wider to the back and 1/4" wider to the front of the tire from centerline than stock assuming you have the 255/75/17's like I had. And only 1/2" taller from the center of the wheel to the tread surface.

Yes, a 33" tire will fit fine but regarding your wheels, what you need to be looking at is back spacing. Factory BS is 6.25" and if you get something that has too little BS, you may find that your tire side walls will no longer make contact with the rubber isolators and this can be a problem. Without the side walls making contact with the isolators, the spare can jiggle around enough to cause your tire mount to break. At least, this was a common problem on the TJ's.

I thought the stock wheels had 0" bs. with the holes right there at the front of the wheel. Am I remembering stuff wrong or getting my nomenclatrure incorrect?

I know with 4.5" of BS and a 2.5" wider tire my spare does not touch the bumper at all. I am also in the market for a steel bumper w/ tire mount.

Nope, they definitely have 6.25" of BS. Perhaps you were mistook the 0" of offset and confused the two

Wouldn't be the first time I was confused on that topic!
