Default 33"x 12.5 on 16" wheels

so im thinking of finally doing something to my jk. i am not lifted yet or anything of that sort. im looking to up my tires to 33's soon. i've been looking at 285/75/16

but that leaves my tire width at about 11~. i love the look of 33x12.5 on 16's. but tire measurement do i need? also, what is the proper wheel width for a 12.5" tires?

for 12.5's you can use an 8.5 wide rim. but a 9 inch rim is best

Your stock 16's will be fine. There are a lot of guys running 33's on stock 16's.

The search tool is a great thing.

You will need to run wheel spacers if you go with the 33's on stock wheels option.

i searched but only came up with 285/75/16. which is CLOSE but not quite what im looking for. i would really prefer not to run the stock wheel, especially if im trying to go 12.5

Send Discount Tire Direct a pm. They are a sponsor on the forum and are VERY helpful. When I got my 33's they were able to answer every question I had. And if you buy 5 tires from them you get a $50 discount.

Here is a linK!

btw. I am running 285/70/17's and the look is good. Not too much sticking out of the flares. but still a beefy look.

I have no clue about metric dimensions. I know that I'm getting a 33x12.50x17

For a 16 inch rim I have no idea

It is recommended....but I have been running my 33x12.50 on a 17x8 rim with no issues and have plans to run a 35x12.50R17 STT next spring. The problem with recommended is you may have a hard time finding a tire shop mount a 12.50 tire onto a 8" rim or smaller.
