Default 33's with 3.73 auto

Hi I am new to the site and have a few questions. I just bought a 2008 Wrangler unlimited X package. It has the auto with 3.73 gears. I am wondering a couple of things...

1. Can I run 33's with this set up?

2. What will I loose for mpg?

3. Do I need or should I get a lift, and if so what lift, and how much will it cost?

4. If I need to re-gear for this, what gears and how much will it cost?

5. Any pictures to help?

Thanks any advice would be great.

33's and 3:73 is fine
minimal gas milage lose if any
you dont "need" a lift but a simple 2 inch spacer will work fine($100)

Here is mine with 33's Auto with 3:73

I bought 33s and superlift 2" right away.... Then I wished a week later I had gone 35s. I was running 4.10s and I thought it was sluggish on the 33s but mine were 13" wide. My mpg went to 13-14mpg mixed.

Regearing to 5.13s is the best $1200 I spent on the Jeep so far!

Not a bad price for everything wish I lived closer.

I have 33s and 3.73s with an auto. It is ok. I have lived with this setup for about 7 months. My gas mileage dropped to about 15-16mpg. This is due to the rotational weight of the tires. Figure you went for a tire weighing 30lbs to a tire weighing 60lbs. It will down shift out of overdrive quite a bit exspecially if there is a head wind. It does get anoying. You can run the 33s without a lift but I would at least get a 2in BB lift. Im regearing to 4.88s. Seer1 is running a 32in tall m/t and running 5.13s and at 65 his rpms are 2200. Which isnt bad.

I have 33" BFG KM2s, with 3.73 Auto, and honestly, it bugs the shit out of me. Anytime i go up a hill, it seems like a struggle till it shifts gears and goes to 2500+rpms... I love the tire size, but really hate the gearing... If it wasnt for the fact that I want to go 35"s but in a A/T tire, i would regear right now, but 33"s with 5.13 gears with all the highway driving I do is to much. My MPG dropped ALOT!!! but i went from 32" sahara tires to 33" MT's the same day i put on a 2.5" Coil lift (netted closer to 3") so my MPG went from like 19 to 15mix.... I wasnt happy...

Thats what I was afraid of. It seems like even with the stock tires it down shifts more than it should have to. I should have bought the stick shift but my wife is a bad enough driver as is!
