Default 33's or 35's?

I'm getting ready to install an AEV 2.5 inch lift on the Jeep and can't decide what size tires to go with. This is a daily driver so I'm still conscious of gas mileage and more importantly power. I have a stock '07 Sahara with a 6 speed. Are 35's going to rob me of all power? Would I be happier with 33's? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

While 35s look great and give you more clearance on the trails, you will be better off gas mileage wise with a 33s. 35s normally weight a lot more then 33s and the lower weight will help keep your mileage and power up. I run 33s on my 6 speed and while 6th gear is pretty useless, I cant complain that much.

i havent upgraded yet...but when i do going to have to mull it over like you. my last Jeep had 35's. love them...but i did have 4.88 gears. if you are thinking of upgrading, i would look into gear upgrade as well. the last thing you want is to look good, but have 0 amount of umph with your Jeep. You do not want you're Jeep to be a gigolo that is impotent!

I have 33's and its my DD, I noticed a slight decrease in power and mpg's (19mpg down to 14.5mpg) compared to the stock tires. I also have a 2012 with the new engine. 33's will be more street friendly

Your gas mileage decreased 25% when you put 33's on!!?????? That just doesn't seem right.

I have an 08 with 35's and get around 17-18mpg freeway with the cruise on @ 68MPH. I love my 35s and the way the look. I have a feeling the 235s would look really good with your set -up. I am running my set-up with stock Rubi gears. If you don't plan on going on a lot of extreme or above average trails and do not want to re-gear (or do not want to sacrifice as much power) then 33's sound like a better option.

I have an 07 unlimited with 4.10's with a 2.5 inch lift and 33x12.5x15's. Love the set up not so much lose of power and I can still use 6 gears. My tire and wheel weight only went up a little with my set up 33 duratracs and mb 72's. Highly recommend...OH ya still getting around 19 highway/17.5 town. Its my dd love the whole set up. I haven't sacrificed anything...besides money!

...Like i wish JK gears were in my realm of experience. I would TOTALLY buy someones used 4.10's to keep rocking used Rubi 32's as I plan to the next year or two. But paying to re-gear with used OEM Rubi gears only works for my D44 rear- I will have to buy new D30 4.10s wich brings the cost back up.

I AM A HUGE FAN OF 33-34" tires!

I just recently mounted 35s on a 2.5 lift. I barely noticed a loss in power. And my mpg went down from 16/17 around town to 14.5/15.5. Which im ok with, stock rubi gears and axles.
