33s or 35s
I am either looking at a 2.5 BB with 33's or a 3 inch lift with 35's . I was wondering if I would need new gears and how the 35s would effect gas mileage. Would I need to get the tires collaborated so it would be on point with my speedometer?
The answer is yes to all three questions.
I'm running 33s with an RC 2.5 BB. I have the 4.10 diff's. It works okay. Definitely some loss of "oomph", but still tolerable. Gas mileage: Best measurement was after using the Hypertech to recalibrate for the new tires, and I got 15 mpg on one recent highway trip. That compares to 20 on a 5K mile trip last summer. Sorry, but I don't have a better comparison number for the new tires since most of my driving is on city streets. You can recalibrate the tires yourself if you buy either the Accupro ($180) or the Hypertech ($380).
It all depends on what kind of off-roading you're into. If it were me, I would go with a 33" all-terrain tire. Good on the street, good enough on the trails, and more civil and economical than a mud-terrain because of their lighter weight and tread design.
I've done some pretty technical trails in Moab with nothing but a 2.5" budget boost and 32s. 35s are overkill for probably 90% of people. They take all the challenge out of off-roading! They sure look good though.

its an auto, 2dr, I am thinking 2.5 BB with 33's would be more economical seeing that I am not going to do a whole lot of wheeling. Are the 35s overkill if you don't offroad very much?
Good luck with your decision and post some pics when you're done!

If you don;t need that extra 1" of clearance then go the 33s or even 32's
I think the factory flash will go to 33 or maybe its 32...
Either way the error would be so slight you would have no clue there was any error.
Except you will look and calculate and be all anal like the rest of us.
LOL
I am on 35s and think that my next set will be 33s.
I had 32s and the difference in milage and so on is huge for me.
After a couple years of crawl'n an trail'n I think the 32s on a 2dr would give me enough air.
It all depends on usage tho.
I expect my 35s to last a good long while more tho so wont be doing any swapping out untill they are either shredded or MayPops.
