Default 33's or 35's.....pro's and cons

I will be getting a 2 1/2 BB soon and new tires....this is mainly my DD with a little offroading...(a few times a year)...I love the looks of the 35's but am afraid it will kill my power and gas mileage. Wich should I go with?

for the record I have a 2 door X with Dana 44 front and back...manual tranny

Im kinda in the same boat as you. I kicked this around for while. I would rather 35's, but its my fiance's daily driver and I didnt want to have to regear. So I talked myself into 33's.... but then I thought about it more and read more opinions. Now Im back to 35's and regearing. It will probably be a year until I finally buy them so Im sure I'll flip back and forth a few times. I 'll probably end up with 35's though, I never hear anyone say "I wish I wouldve gone with smaller tires" its always "I shouldve just went bigger" hmmm maybe 37's

If you want to regear go 35's if not stick with 33's
If a daily driver you might want to stick with 33's as well unless you are not to worried about gas mileage!

If you go to 35's and do not ever see yourself going up in tire size gear to 4.88 but if you like a little bit better acceleration and do not mind high rpm at highway speeds go with 5.13

My soon to be set-up for a daily driver 35's, 3in lift, geared at 4.88.
With my intake, exhaust, and headers to be, my gas milage should only drop by less then a mile per gallon. Well that is the plan anyway.

Now if this wasn't a daily driver you can be sure I would have a long arm 4in suspension and 37's

If you go to 37" tires it is only 2" higher. I was going to go with 35" tires, but I have the same mentality of no one ever has said they should have gone smaller, and so I am going to the 37" route.

What gears do you have? You don't have to regear for 35's, at least with 4.10's, is it beneficial, yes, but mine with 35's accelerates pretty good and it's my daily driver. It's not a speed demon, but's it's by far not a turtle.

My thought as well. I just need to decide on ATs or MTs. Thinking I'll leave the 4.10s for a bit and see how they feel.

4.10's in it now with a 6-speed. I know I ve read that that is a livable combo and I'll probably try it before I regear. But I live in a very hilly area and it is my fiance's daily driver, so if she loses power... she'll kill me. I still dont have her completely convinced on the increased height from the 35's yet. I actually brought up trading my truck in on my own JK, but she doesnt want me to. She said to get her a VW bug or jetta to use for her commute to work and then I can do whatever I want to her jeep... I might take her up on that offer, because I think 2 jeeps would have me bankrupt in no time...

I picked up my JK Unlimited 2 days ago, put a TF 2.5" BB and 35" Cooper STTs yesterday, and drove it to work today. I am surprised at how well it runs on these tires as the naysayers seemed to forecast doom and gloom when running 35's. Mind you, I've only put 60 miles on the thing total but it didn't drag much more than my Chevy Silverado on 285's. I've got the 3.73 gears and auto trans with the X package. It'll be interesting to see how it does on the highway and off-road though.

See I was is the same boat up until about a week ago when I built 2 package deals (one being 35's and the other 37"s) online and compared the prices and benifits for over a good hour. Until my wife came in the room and said "oh just do it go big or go home." So with that I hit the submit button and if you look below you can see what I got.

Default 35s

I run 35s on my daily driver and although the acceleration is not too bad, the gas milage is rather poor. Maybe 11-12 mpg. Added a Flowmaster Offroad Super 44 muffler and Jet Stage I chip which helped a bit (now up to 13-14) but not as much as I hoped. Hopefully an intake will give me some extra milage without regearing. Does anyone know if regearing voids the warranty on the rest of the powertrain?
