Default 33's on stock tailgate???

I know it's probably been asked a million times, but I didn't find too much information when doing a search. Will the stock tailgate handle 33's without bending out of shape? Specifically these two set-up's?

17x9" wheel with 4.75" bs with a 285/70/17 tire?

16x8" wheel with 4.00" bs and a 285/75/16 tire?

yeah, you'll be fine with a 33. just make sure that the sidewall is pressing firmly up against the rubber isolators. this will help prevent jiggling which is ultimately the cause of fatigue and breaks.

I've been running 35's on my stock gate for over a year now and still no problems (so 33's shouldn't be a problem). Like WOL said make sure your isolators are sitting snug against the tire to prevent wobbling

NR4x4 sells them: "Daystar JK Tailgate Spare Tire Isolators". They can be found just about anywhere online though, and for $15 bucks its a great way to stretch your money until you can afford a proper rear bumper and tire carrier. As far as I can tell I have zero wear on the rear gate from the added weight of the new 35" KM2 and steel rim combo. I do wheel a fair amount... so it has seen some abuse and so far no shakes, rattles or deformities. With aftermarket bs'ed wheels you'll need longer than stock iso's to keep it snug and the Daystars are simple to cut for the perfect fit.

Pretty sure somebody did a little write-up on using some rubber door stops from the hardware store as isolators, or extensions. Looked fine, available locally, and really inexpensive.
