Default 35" Spare

OK, so I made the leap to 35" tires...now I am working on getting a spare mounted. Question...QTec tells me my bumper, Rampage Rear Recovery bumper, will not accept a tire swing. Ok, no worries, I could just weld something on there. However, then I see on Qtec's website they sell a kit from Rampage that allows for mounting up to 35" tire on gate. They say the gate can hold it...is that true? I have a friend with 35's and he wheels the hell out of it and has mounted his 35" spare on the stock location as is for almost a year...no issues. Can someone shed some light on what is doable here?!

If you have a rim with the correct offset, yes, you can bolt it onto the stock spare carrier. If not, you'll need one of those up and over offset plates that Quadtratec and others sells. Costs about $40 bucks or so. Or, spend big bucks and buy AEV's stand alone spare tire carrier that works with a stock rear bumper.

That's the two options I'm aware of. I'm sure others will have some thoughts on this as well.

Also depends on the weight of the tires, I think you'll be fine with mtrs but some tires are really heavy for their size, like nitto trail grapplers

I have had a 33 inch on there (stock location) for over two years. And it is rattling and chattering away. A good amount of bad roads, wheeling, and long drives, it seems to be roasted.

Matter of fact, i should have already bought a tire carrier, but it is still going.

But it will definitely fit a bigger tire, and hold it for a bit of time. Good 35s and so on are not actually the right size. But not permanently, in my opinion.

Anybody ever stick a 37 on the stock piece??!!!

Yeah right, really? Seriously.
