I have done ok so far with an aftermark tire carrier so if that is what you can afford, that would work. If you have the money though, I would definitely go with the bumper/carrier combo.

This is the one that I have. It works great, but no matter what, the weight of the tire will but pressure on your tailgate over time.

i have seen that one and am just not crazy about putting it on the tailgate like that. i was just wondering in there was any other options other than a bumper replacement. i know teraflex came out with something but i cant seem to find it or if its even being made yet.

im sure i can run it with the stock setup for a short period but i know over time my tailgate is going to bend or im going to break something that will cost just as much to fix as if i had already bought something to address the problem. i just want to avoid any headache if i can.
