Default 35" Spare Tire Mount?

Can I just get one of those Teraflex spacers and mount a spare 35" tire on the stock mount? I dont have the coin for a fance bumper/tirecarrier at this point.

Thanks,

Yeah, but just think about how smart it makes you look when you can just copy and paste and be the first to answer a question.

CAUTION, YOU ARE ABOUT TO ENTER A RANT ZONE: Why are people so damn hung up on the search feature? Get over it. Maybe the guy did search bit still felt like posting. This IS a COMMUNITY forum right? I'll bet almost every question anyone needs an answer to regarding the JK has already been asked here. So should the forum come to a screeching halt and everyone use it like a damn encyclopedia? Let people ask questions, who cares if it's been asked already. But then again, I always get a kick out of the folks who cant wait to jump all over a thread with the "use the search tool." It's very original.

Default 35 mounted

I have my 35 " mounted on the stock carrier. It rests on the rear bumper enough that it does not bounce around. NO problems so far.

I'm wondering the same as well. I'll likely just hardly space my spare off the mount with some pepboys cheapie aluminum wheel spacers likely. To keep it from the bumper. We'll see what i end up doing. I think some caution should be advised for keeping the gate open for extended periods with the added weight of the 35s there..

I strongly recommend NOT using spacers. Because of the added tire weight as well as increasing the arm length, it will definitely put added stress to the tailgate. It may be fine for a little while, but after some time you will see and hear the effects. I had one for a while and after a few short months the signs began to show and I ordered a bumper with a tire carrier. You can take your tire off and store it in the back of the jeep. I have a 2 door, so I took out the rear bench to put the tire in the meantime, looks cooler too

Man, I forgot to answer the OP! FWIW, I have a 35 on the stock carrier and no problems for almost a year. But I did order the or-fab carrier....just havent gotten around to throwing it on. You will be okay for a while but if you can, look to get something that is made to support 35's.
