Yes, I saw the can version for around that, but wanted the Rotopax because of how far it stuck out

I have the smitty tire carrier with the bumper, works great and I like it. I wanted a bumper /hitch and carrier all at once, hence my purchase to this.

The least expensive is the Smitty carrier for $129:
Smittybilt 2743 - Smittybilt Oversized Tire Carrier in Black for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

I've had mine on for 4+ months now, no problems. I have a 35 X 12.5 GY MTR/K on it. Before I bought it, I did researched and found a few people that have had it for a few years. I couldn't find a single complaint.

I'm using TF's hinge with only the oe tire mount and Hyline's extension with hub third brake light. If you have another spacer of sorts to use with your oe carrier along with the TF hinge, that'd be a nice setup. $500.

Have any pictures of how the setup looks before the tire is attached? I've been reading about the TF Hinge and I am actually starting to like what I have read, plus I like the simple look of it.

I don't have any without the spare on. All the hype of how great these are though is very accurate. Very nice and silent. No rattles or shimmys in the back any more. Also allowed me to weight my tailgate down with tools since the new hinge supports every bit of weight.

I'm thinking about getting the hinge as well as the mounting kit. Most likely what I will do. Ill probably have to mount the brake light on the tire mount like I have seen others do

Finally quieted the Smitty by putting a rubber spacer in between the handle. Other then that solid good looking bumper.
