I can't really say. I dropped wheels, tires and jeep off at the local tire shop. They called a few hours later to say they were ready. If it means anything.. i noticed 1 weight on both front tires and two weights on the rears. I've not driven at highway speeds yet but so far i've not noticed anything out of the ordinary.

If the tires took a lot of weights, I'd consider checking the rims to see if they are bent (if steel) or defective (if aluminum).

I just balanced my new 38" MT/R's on 17x9 rims and each tire took less than 4 oz. each.

My 37" Krawlers on 17x8.5 Walker Evans Beadlocks took less than 2 oz. per tire!

Most radial tires are getting very close to being true in balance now a days.

My local tire shop had no problem mounting 8" on my 35x12.5 tires. I love the look. The problem i had when picking 8 or 9 was finding a rim with the 4" backspace i was looking for.

Mine took a shit load of weights...wheels were brand spanking new... Anything else you can think of? Road force balance?

The tech that did the balance said that maybe wheel spacers would help... I have no idea how these would help balance a tire...

I have 17x9 inch wheels. I'll tell ya now, I wish I had bought 8" wide. The problem I have is the bead of the rim catches rocks and has even bent a rim or two. I think with a 8" wide rim the side wall would give that area a little more protection.
