Hello,
I'm not really looking for which is better nor pros and cons. But would like to ask a question about why there is such a negative view of 35's on 15's. But not 37's in 17's. Each set up is the same ratio. I've been on the fence about upgrading wheels or just getting 35's for my 15's. The only real negative that everyone seems to think is possible squishy ride and handling due to extra tires. I haven't read that about the 37 on 17 setup. Why is that ? Many guys run 17s with 35's. But I just don't see how one more inch of rim and one less inch of tire could possible affect the ride or handling to the point that it would be noticeable. Am I missing something? I almost feel as if it's just one of those things where owners think something because it's been said so much but who knows either way thanks for any responses.

There probably isn't much difference when comparing the two sizes you mentioned. If you compare equal tire sizes the larger rim vehicle will have less tire roll and better on road handling. I think there would be a much larger problem going to a 37 on a 15 rim.

I read an article in jp one time that compared two tires on different size rims. Pretty interesting.

The negative comments about 15's - are they talking about backspacing requirements? Or caliper clearance? Or rod end clearance? Or the lack of aftermarket big brake upgrades? Or the fact that tire mfg's seem to be moving away from that size? All can be valid concerns. But the ratio when compared to the 37" setup you listed, not so much...

All of the above. But none seem to be a real issues at the 35 tire size.

Yeah, comments on sidewall ratio come up all the time when people ask about 20" rims, but I don't think I have seen anyone else mention it in connection with 15's.

For 15's, all of the other considerations can very well come into play, though, and should all at least be considered when thinking about possible future build plans.

Do it, the 35s that is, you'll be fine. I ran 35s and 37s with a 15" wheel with no issues.

I will say this though, my current set up of 37s on a 17 is a bit more firm than the 35s or 37s on a 15" wheel because the 37x13.5-17 is a E rated tire where the 35-37 for the 15s were Cs.

I run 35s on 15s with a very heavy / top heavy JK and I have no complaints about it feeling squishy. Does it feel different then the stock 32" KMs in 17s, yes but any size change isn't going to go completely unnoticed.

Same here, I run 35s on 15s and I have no problems with ride. Let's not forget that it's a Jeep not a race car. If your plans include extensive suspension and drivetrain upgrades then just go with 17s, for the above mentioned fitment problems.

I had 35's on 17's on my 2011 2door and had no issues at all. With south Louisiana roads made like a wash board used for washing rocks, the steering wheel didn't jump out of my hands. I had a 3" BDS suspension lift and handled great.
