35's on 16 inch rims?
Is that to small? My jeep does about 80% highway 20% woods. I know its not a cadilac but is a 16 with a 35 on it safe? The rims i want i like in a 16 x 8 and they have 4.5 BS jsut wondering thanks!
I asked Nitto this same question, they said that it is safe to run up to a 35 on a 15" rim and I would have no problems with up to 37's on a 16. They did say that 37's would allow a little roll on sharper turns, but as long as I remember I am in a Jeep and not a Mustang I should have no problems. One last suggestion they had was to look at how many ply the sidewalls are. With 35's on a 16 they said you want a minimum of 3 ply sidewalls.
I think it iwould be perfectly safe to do so. Guys have been running tall tires on 15's forever. That doesn't mean it is safe but it has proved to be. You will only have just a touch more sidewall with 16" compared to 17" wheels with 35's.
I have been running on 315/75R16 since October with no problems. My rims are 16x8 and have 5" of backspacing plus Spidertrax spacers.
