Default 35's on a 16x8 ?

Hey guys,

I was browsing around for a good setup for 35's and wheels and was curious if the BFG KM2 tire (315/75R16, width 12.40) would fit on a Black Rock 16x8 wheel with a 5.00 backspacing?

I'm trying my darndest to understand all the requirements for putting together a good wheel and tire setup but I'm having a tough time absorbing various info from multiple threads and putting it all together.

It will fit fine. I am running 315 75R 16 Toyos on 16" x 8" with 4.5" backspace. For 12" wide tire or thereabouts, a 8" wide is preferred for off roading. When aired down, the narrower rim width will keep the bead on the tire better.

Less backspace would be better.

I was thinking that too. I'm curious what would be the right amount of backspacing to keep the tires from sticking out past the fenders. I hear that the laws in Germany say that the tires can't stick out past the fenders. This sucks because I'd really like to get a set of flat fenders. Any ideas? I'm half tempted to just get them anyway and try my luck

This is right on. Pretty much the most common size guys are running on the JK, including me. I've even seen a number of guys running 35x12.5 on the stock Moab wheels, which are only 7.5's wide, which sounds a little narrow, but works for many. I can air down to 15 psi easily with my 16x8's. I am running black rock dunes with 5.00" of backspacing and they work perfectly. Zero rubbing issues, though they do stick out about 1.5" from the stock fenders (more for me now that I trimmed mine).
