Default 35's on 4"-4.5" of lift

Ok, so here I sit, still a couple months shy of taking delivery of my JK. Still debating how much lift and what size tire to start it out with.

Originally, I'd thought about going all the way to 37's from the get go. Alas, my pockets aren't quite that deep, so I'm re-thinking it. I'd thought of slapping on a BB and 35's, but I hate the idea of spending $ on something that I know I'll end up swapping out again later and needing to sell. The wife says that if I'm gonna lift it, then do it right the first time. After I heard that, I started looking at the Evo Coil over setup. Figured I could put that on and start out with 35's and just adjust it later to fit larger tires as needed. Unfortunately, after ~$4k+ for the Evo setup, lift, wheels, tires, bumpers, etc. that still turns out to be a hefty first step.

So, what I'm thinking now, is maybe start out with a 4.5" lift. I could slap on some 35's and be good with that for a while. I could probably even get by w/o regearing until I go to 37's. Then, when it's time for 37's or larger, I could pull the springs from the 4.5" lift and put the coilover setup on from Evo.

So, my question is... does anyone have any pics of a 4dr w/ 4-4.5" of lift and 35's? I'm curious as to how much "too" big it looks for the 35's. Couldn't look any worse than a 2-3" lift with stockers on it and there've been a few of those pics around.

Forgive me for rambling, but I can't quit thinking about it and I'm trying to get the plan right so I don't fark it up when I finally get my JK.

I feel your pain.

I had the same issue running thru my head, somewhat based on cost, and also thinking the 37's would look too big driving around Dallas. And I had seen a Rubi with a 3" lift on 35's, and it look great.

I posted a thread, "Talk me out of it", or something like that, about getting 37's. Many responses, and it didn't work. I wanted 37's and ultimately got them.

And I love them. I do not think I would be as happy with 35's. And if you wheel at all, you will appreciate the added height (1" can be a lot! Never thought you'd hear a guy say that!).

Your eventual build is gonna be very expensive in the end with the coil overs and all.

You're gonna want 37's someday.

I would advise getting the 37's, enjoying your Jeep more from day 1, and add the coil overs later, if ever.

Yeah, but 35's on a 4dr can be done relatively painlessly.

If I go to 37's right away, then gears and driveshafts are a must-have and will likely add another $2-3k onto the build that could be delayed a bit if I just stay wiht 35's.

Hopefully, someone will put up a pic of a 4dr w/ 4.5" lift and 35's...

A 4.5" lift looks fine with 35" tires.
IMO a 4 - 4.5 is needed to clear 35's, especially if you have a kit that flexes good and you wheel it hard

I had a RE 3.5" superflex kit before and it flexed enough that my 35's were rubbing a little in the front. Now I have the RE 4.5 long arm kit and I think its perfect with 35's. The ride on and off road is great, off road flex is awsome, and someday I can just pull the springs and upgrade to coilovers if I choose to go bigger, while keeping the long arm set up.
I just wish I would have gotten the 4.5" LA from the get go

Here is how mine looks...

Yeah, I've seen the "35's" thread. Just takes forever to sort through there plus some people don't post which lift they're running (or even how many inches).

I sure wish I could see photobucket pics here at work. Oh, well, I guess I'll have to look at this thread when I get home.

Thanks. That's ALOT of extra room in those wheel wells! I still want to see more pics, but from the looks of it, I might end up going with a 3.5" lift and 35's. Of course, you had the 1" BL and tube fenders adding to it in that first pic. Is the BL in the 2nd pic, too?

Here is a pic after the lift was first put on. Full Traction 4" Ultimate.

Granted thats as high as it gets with no doors and top. Sits a bit lower with doors and hard top on.
