Question 35's on D30?

I have an X with the rear D44, 4.10 gears and its my daily driver. I dont wheel it much at all and probably wont anymore now that i have a YJ. Im thinking of putting a 4 inch lift on my JK. The lift says it will fit a 35 inch tire with no mod's. Its a Rough Country lift. But my question is will i have any problems with this tire being that big and my front axle only being a D30? Like i said its a daily driver and not a trail rig. Any advise will be great! Im thinking about ordering this lift monday but i want to ask yall before i do! Also anyone else running this lift? Thank's again, Wes.

If your not gonna wheel it, just get a 2in budget boost or even just a 1in body lift and it will fit 35's. One guy on the forum runs 36's with no lift. It's alot cheaper to run a BB and easier install. I constantly have TJ owners sratching there head when they find out I only have a BB with a 1in BL. They think I have 5-6 inches of lift. The JK body lines and wheelwells are different and it'll accomidate alot bigger tire with less lift and driveline mods. If you got the cash though going bigger is definately better

It's funny how people think the Dana 30 is only up to street driving. You guys have no idea how tough that axle really is, especially a newer 30. Rather than just accept advice from people who have no real experience with any Dana axle, you should do some research on what other people have experienced from a Dana 30.

Check out Trent McGee's TJ some time. He's got a few upgrades on his 30 but runs 37's and hits it hard!

Default I have 37's on d30

Thread before this one says you have no idea how strong the d30 is he's right! I lived in Utah and been to Moab many times and a couple of times with my X. I've been on Hells revenge and didn't break a thing. If you use the gas wisely you will not break a thing. Most of the vehicles weight 3/4 is on the D44 when going up hills and the other 1/4 is on the D30. This is why I did not go with the Rubicon. I did not want to spend the 5 or 6000 dol. on the extra's. Hope that answer your ?'s

Here's a great and simple rule of thumb that I've always used:

If you're not sure if a part is strong enough....IT IS.
(if you don't know enough information then you are typically fairly new to 4 wheeling and will likely not push your Jeep to the limits of breakage.)

Note: if you still break.....think about how much you'll learn while fixing your broken part!

If you are pretty sure or certain that a part is not strong enough......IT IS NOT!
(If you know the limits of your Jeep parts, then you also typically know the limits of your Jeep, driving ability and experience behind the wheel, as well as technical trails.)

I just bought the mtz's and am very impressed. I have 33x12.5's and have very little road noise. I can feel a little of the tread in the form of bumpiness but nothing bad at all. Definetely worth the minor bumps and faint extra noise for the aggressive look the MTZ's give, IMO.

2drnsonoran-Hey thanks for the advise and the examples of what the D30 will handle.

Mike_Engle-The lift does not come with adj. controll arms. I see that daystar and super lift offers some. Do you suggest any? I was thinking about the drive shaft thing last night. I see that you can buy a u-joint cv style so i think i am going to do that. Anyone suggest a brand of drive shafts?

DirkDigler-Thanks for the rule of thumb. It seems like a pretty good one to go by. I am pretty new at 4wheeling. Im not extremely new but then not a pro. Just kind of in the middle. I used to run a TJ with 33 inch tires and the 30 up front but with 35's i wanted to ask everyones thought's so thanks again.

ssmith-The MTZ's seem like a really good tire. Im kind of leaning towards that one as well. I have not seen alot of bad reviews about them and i have asked a few other people who run them what they thought of them and everyone seems to really like running them.
