Default 35's on factory swing gate

not sure if in the right forum here, just a quick question. i can't seem to talk my wife into a purchase of a rear bumper w/ tire carrier. she is allowing the lift, tires, wheels etc. She don't see buying a $700+ bumper.

anyway i've seen some on here with 35" tire on factory gate. any problems with the gate not shutting over time due to the weight. it seems pretty well setup. Looking at 35" MT MTZ's. I hate leaving the factory spare tire on the jeep until i can get one. i will have a bumber/tire carrier eventually just not for the next year. shes so mean

thanks

Rule # 1. Never tell your wife the cost of things.
Rule # 2. Always purchase it first, it's easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.
Rule # 3. Always refer to Rule #1.

35's will be ok.

If it doesn't work out for you, throw that bugger in the back, and bungee it down! Problem solved until next year when you get your "real" setup!

Nope no problems, been doing it for over a year now and not one issue with the 35 on the tail gate. go for it and use the 700 bucks on something else

Exactly what I did, except i used a rachet strap, my tailgate made so much noise after every bump I was afraid I was doing damage, I probably was. It seems to work for most people so I say go for it. If it doesn't work out you can use if as leverage for the new bumber latter

Solutions, put in the back or get a tire carrier.

All you'll need is to add a spacer to pull the wheel out a little; that way it doesn't hit the bumper.

Those with 35s on the gate - is your 3rd light still viewable or did you have to remove it? It will most likley go anyway but was wondering if it could stay...
It's not viewable with the a 35 on the back; I removed mine and add the TeraFlex 3rd Brake Light Adj. extension bracket.

Mine was viewable when I had the spare on the back.

I've been married 37 years and Rule #1 is the key. When t comes to guns, Jeeps and tools #1 is the key.

I could add a 4th Rule: once it makes it into the gun safe the first time it's "I've had that for twenty years".
