35's and towing 3200lbs of camper
Lets be short with this 35's with 410 gears and tows 3200lbs of camper thinking of new gears and of course trans cooler oh its a manual with d44's. Any suggestions on whats gears I should get? I have cold air intake and the flashpaq. And its my daily driver. Thanks for your suggestions

The 'short' answer - 4.88, unless you plan on going to taller tires, same as every other 'what gears should I get with a manual' thread...
The longer answer - which gear do you tow in? Plug the numbers into the chart in the drivetrain faq's to see what you rpm's at 70 will be. Then do some mathematical stuff with the tranny ratios to see what your rpm's will be in your chosen towing gear. |
You dont think I need to go any lower? And I could not find anything on the faqs on rpm and gear ratio but will look again.

Thanks for the info now just one more question should i change the front also or will the 410s work with the 488 rear?
|
you need to re-gear both front and rear. (unless you want to pull the front driveshaft off and have a permanent 2wd JK...
The faq's you haven't found yet talk about it also... Q: Do I need new gears for both my axles or do I just need to regear the rear axle? A: |
yes just found them going with 488 and in both now just need to find some time and do some research on what brand and were to get them?

Finally some people who tow campers! Have you guys actually towed with 35's and how hilly is your area. I live in AZ and going up north to camp is a climb, I really bog down going up hills and I'm only running 265/75/16. I've got a cold air and throttle body spacer. Waiting to get a programmer and regear. I've been think of going to 33's but it sounds like I might be able to get away with 35s.
