Agreed! Worked in the snowboarding industry for a long while, lived in the mountains the whole time. As long as you have the clearance (straight axle clearance too due to taller tires) it's always beneficial to run narrower tires. If you're going way into the backcountry, 3+ feet of snow or more, then you should start thinking about float, super soft tires aired down like for sand. Any significant time on the road though and pizza cutters are better. I always used them on my Land Rovers, small contact patch definitely cuts through to the pavement. Where are you driving?

Rhode Island, winters are harsh, would like to do a larger tire without killing my current 18mpg.
