traction is about the same, both great tires. Nittos actually get better reviews for ice. Nittos are stronger sidewall, but BFGs are MUCH lighter.

The BFG has the most failures of any tire I've seen. When there's a flat on the trail, it's ALWAYS a BFG KM2. Most of the people I wheel with have a mix of BFG KM2 and GY MTR/K. I've seen close to 10 to 1 flats of BFG KM2 vs. the GY MTR.

Another reason it's lighter than most is because they run noticeably smaller than most too.

One more: they don't ride very nice on road. A friend of mine switched from the KM2 to they MTR/K said it's a huge difference in comfort and noise. The KM2 is much rougher and noisier.

I have 11K on my KM2 37, I mean 35.5's. Have had no sidewall issues, but won't run them lower than 13-14 psi on the JKU. Have had two flats, one a cut/slice and the other a barrel cactus needle went thru. I have done the 5 tire rotation 4 times already. Noticeable chunking on all 5 and very noticeable balance issues on the highway. I will be replacing them next month with GY MTR's before I do the Rubicon.

Went from 35 MTRks to 37 KM2s. IMHO KM2s superior in every aspect. Wheel the hardest trails at every park with no cut sidewalls on KM2s.

I love the performance of my KM2's. I have wheeled them on all the best trails in Big Bear and no tears,, only one chunk
They ride great on the road and dont make too much noise. I just rotated them at 4k. They do run small,, so if you want 37's,, buy 38's!! My only suggestion,, if your going to do hard rock krawlin,, get bead lock rims too!! Have fun!!!

My last set of rubber were KM2's. lots of chunking and side wall damage. They don't balance well. They wear weird. and... Over rated as a mud tire too. They don't clear out very good. I switched to Nitto trail grapplers and found they clear mud a lot better (snow too). Yes... They are a little heavier, but not by much. I've got 3.5k miles on my new set of tires and they are doing very well. IMO, stay away from KM2's.
