37" Tires
Got my 37" tires today. I will try them on the trail this Saturday. I also upgraded to 5.13's, chromo shafts, and cut my fenders, body panels, and rock rails. I hope to see an improvement in clearance and crawling. I mostly wheel at Superlift OHV park here in Hot Springs Ar, and the 4-5 rated trials are as tough as any around the country. The guys I wheel with are mostly driving TJ's and YJ's, and while I have a big advantage with my wheel base on most obsticles, they do not get hung up as bad on the smaller tall boulders.
I love Superlift ORV. Hell, I love Hot Springs period. I have only been to 2 offroad parks: Shiloh Ridge and Superlift. Superlift is awesome. Plus it is beautiful up there!!! I can't wait to go back.
when you upgrade to the 37s also consider a wider tire as well (wider then 12.50). when aired down the taller tire will add to ground clearance and road contact. the wider tire will also add tons of traction and ground contact.
Well, I had a great weekend. The 37's performed up to expectations. I did not get hung up on things I would have prior to. I did not drag on deep rutted hill climbs as much, and cleared rocks better also.
But on Sunday, I got a little over confident and let my ego take over. There was a waterfall slab rock about 10 ft long that was pretty steep, and WET.
A couple pretty cappable rigs in front of me had already winched up, but I thought I could make it. I gave it a little bump, and spun the wheels up, but came back down hard. Needless to say, that loud snap was my rear axle shaft breaking.
Ordered a new one today. My first axle break. Just part of it I guess.

Yep. I had to replace my new Chromo's after 1 weekend of wheeling!! What luck huh! This hill broke 2 different axles that weekend. The first was a ford 8.8 on 35" Claws. I think it was just dumb ass arrogance that got these. I had climbed up about 1' or so with the tires really spinning, when it came back down, the tires were in a deep washout, and just came to an immediate stop. Probably lucky I didn't break a driveshaft, or ring gear, or at least break a tire bead.
