37s with 3.73
Anybody have this? Do you think it would be livable? -2012 2 door jk auto with 3.73s.. Mostly city driving and mild offroading nothing too crazy.. I used the search and couldn't find anything.
You are going to put a lot of strain on the tranny, so you (and others) need to realize the "livable" side of it should be at the bottom of the list of importance (although others will disagree bc they don't use their heads). That's the main issue, not if you can deal with the lack of power or whatever you wanna call it. You'll eventually cause major problems sooner than later... just my opinion, but heck - it's your rig, do what you'd like....
Power and how it drives is a "personal" thing.... doing it the RIGHT way and not breaking shit and causing even more problems is not personal, it's common sense.

i wouldnt. itl weakn ur trans i believe. i know i have a 2012 sport 6 speed with 35s and i can tell it needs geared bad. i think mines got 3.21s
an auto has clutch packs like a dirt bike kinda. itl burn em like u would burn a normal clutch if u wheel it hard. or tryn climb up on somethin. as long as its gotta ramp kinda goin up it its fine but i cant climb anything like a ledge or up on my buddies tire on his jeep my clutch slips in low 4wd.

35's on a D30 is pushing it. 37's even beefed up D30 and you're risking damage. If you're not going to do an axle swap, 35's should be your limit. Even pavement driving with 37's on a D30 is risky.
My 2012 has 3.73s (automatic) with 35s, I'm happy with it. I live in a flat area. - But I think 37s would be too much. Maybe do 35s if you don't want to re-gear - otherwise do all the other upgrades you will need for 37s.

I have a 2011 4 door with heavy 37" Toyos and still running 3.73s for now. I am in the process of saving up some cash for 5.13s or 5.38s...
I have lost a lot of small power the 3,8 has to offer, but its still drivable around town, but i dont really do any highway driving because it doesnt seem to take the engine/trans to the limits...

I will be investing in a trans cooler along with the gears here shortly. The front dana 30 can wait, because if it does bend or break then i will have a reason to upgrade that later!
It drives just fine around town and my wife and I take it easy until we can afford to regear and hopefully a tuner will be released for the 11s soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

Ok, I have a 2011 2DR Auto that when I first added my 37's still had the 3.73's. I have also welded Gussets on my D30. With the 3.73's on my 2011 the power loss wasnt that bad. I did swap to 5.13's and my mpg became fantastic. Anyway, you have alot more power in your '12 and I would think will be no problem until you can do gears. Prior to regearing, I just switched O/D off to make up for it.
They are Jeeps, if used as Jeeps something will break. I have a buddy who wheeled Moab with the same setup on several occasions...nothing happened with his front D30. Not saying it never will, but like him I have had no issues
Good luck
