Default 37's too much for D30?

I keep hearing that it is not a good idea to go over 35 inch tires. To me they just seem too small now and I wanna go 37's with a 13.50 width. I think that'll keep me plenty happy. Do you guys think that 37's are too much for the factory Dana 30's?

I've had my 37's on for a few weeks, got to wheel it this past weekend. We have mostly muddy trails, sand and hill climbs. I hammered it a few times to see if I was gonna break something, nada. But...... Doesn't mean I'm not gonna snap something next time. For around here, I think I'm fine for the spots I wheel. Now this story may completely change when I go to the rocks in Hot Springs. I think it depends on how far you wanna push it. If you'll baby it, yeah, you might be fine, but you definately can't treat it like you have stock tires on. Again if your all rocks, I'd upgrade, if just woodsy trails you'd be alright......for awhile.

Will be ok if you aren't too hard on it. Gussets might be a good idea.
It will certainly break sooner than if you had a D44.

Definately at least do c-gussets d-30 or d-44.

It should be fine with the evo c-gussets and tube sleeves, but I wouldnt re-gear any lower than 5.13 in a d-30 ( the pinion gear is pretty small).

Pretty small is an understatement, it's teenineny. But gotta roll with what I got for right now. Gotta deal on spare axles right now, so I'm keepin fingers crossed on the R&P.

Like I said on the PM, if you're going to stick to the beach, go right ahead. If you will do any type of wheeling up in the north east, you will EVENTUALLY break, especially since you want to regear to 4.88/5.13. In the northeast we have quite a bit of rocks, tight trails, etc. It isn't sand, it isn't mud, it isn't water (for the most part). With 5.13s, your R&P gears are going to be TINY. On 35s, 4.88s and Detroits, I know sooner or later, I might destroy it. Hopefully, I'll destroy axleshafts, which I don't mind, rather than taking out the R&P.
