Default 3rd Brake light

I am planning on running my spare inside behind the rear seat. That leaves me with that ugly 3rd brake light sticking up and looking stupid back there! Has anyone used a universal type 3rd brake light and ran it inside? I was thinking about fabbing up an aluminum plate to mount it to and mounting the plate to the window mounts that are already there and using some rubber or foam to isolate it from rattling. Then I can just put a quick diconnect in line somewhere so I don't have to worry about it when I remove the hard top. Soft top mounting is another issue I'll deal with later. Just assume I only have a hard top for now! Thanks!

I thought about that, but I think the laws here say that it has to be much higher up or I can get a ticket and fail inspection miserably! ugghh!

Yeah. Deff check placement laws for the third brake light before placing it. Seeing that your from jersey i know they are tough on inspections.
I was researching NY fender laws and found out my bumpers and 3rd brake light were both ilegal. However I can take my fenders off completely w/ no prob as long as i keep the marker lights.
