Default 4.0i

Im new to Jeeps so I dont really know much about them.I love my JK, but the 3.8l is poo. Does anyone know if I could mount an '06 TJ 4.0I in my JK? Im trying to avoid too many mods cause Im going to be doing some of the work. I have a few friends that can build whatever, but I want to do some research before I decide on anything. Thx!

That swap wouldn't be worth the effort, you wouldn't gain any mileage or power.

The worthwhile swaps are Hemi, Chevy v8, and diesels. There are kits currently available for all these swaps.

I think the reason why the 4.0 i6 feels so much more peppy in the tj is because it weighs like 1000 pounds less than a jk. Putting it in a jk wont do much.

If I remember correctly the 3.8 makes more hp and tq than the 4l. You would be better off supercharging it or doing a hemi or 4bt swap.

So expensive. So if I wanted to swap in... Say.. A Chevy 327, would that be a PITA? What issues would I face, besides mounts and tranni/T-case swap??

If you were putting in a stroker 4.0 IMO would make a difference. The JK 3.8 is a minivan engine, but works well in a JK I think. We didnt buy these to be in Sports Cars or I would have kept my 350Z...we bought them to drive OVER sports cars and through anything we can think of. If you want it to feel more zippy, change your gears and get a Tuner, exhaust and CAI.

Then, if you still thirst for more power......buy a 60's musclecar as a project!

Good luck with whatever you decide!
