Default 4.10 Gears??

I'm driving a 2 dr JK X with the dreaded 3.21 gears on 33" M/T tires. The Jeep is a slug and unless I'm in 1st gear 4lo, I stall on a rock maybe twice the size of a softball when on the trail. I'm planning to re rear either 4.10 or 4.88. I don't plan to go to bigger tires.

How do you 4.10 drivers on 33's feel about your gearing? Do you wish you had 4.88's if you plan on staying with 33's or are the 4.10's good enough??

Thanks.

Not sure...I have 4.10 from the factory, but I suspect everyone is gonna jump on here and say 4.88 at least! Sorta like the 35 or 37 debate....if you hesitate go bigger, madder or stronger!

I have 33's and 3.73 on a 4dr X with the Auto (this makes a hugh difference). I would like to have a litte more gear... I was thinking if I found a set of 4.10 take offs, that would be great but if not, then a set of 4.56 is what I would go with... not 4.88. I drive about 30K miles a year in my JK.

You dont say wether you have an auto or stick, if you have a stick you may find that the 4.10 will make you feel right at home. If you have an auto, then maybe its enough with a 2dr, but I would go with 4.56 if I was going to spent the time and money to re-gear.

Default no 4.56s

i ordered 4.56s from Northridge a few weeks ago and David told me it could be up to 10 months so id say not to bank on them. i am on 35's and 3.21 and I know what you mean i am trying to get a set of 4.10s, the 4.88s would make mine run like 2850rpm at 70 and more for the 33s you have. if you honestly think you will stay with 33s forever Ive heard that the 3.73s make a noticeable difference and are almost a throw away in the for sale section

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Jumping to 410s will give you about 35% better gearing. Pick a speed in your top gear and check the rpms. Then shift down to the gear that gets the same speed, but with 35% higher rpm. That will equal the power you will have in your top gear with 410s.
