4.10's, 4.56's or stick with 4.88's?

If it was me personally I'd go 488. Yes your rpm will be a bit higher, but not terrible, 6 will be usable for high way speed. As well if you decide to go to a larger tire or heaver tire at a later point you won't have to regear, as it should be a livable ratio.
And you'll have to do the lift/35 tires sooner. If your gonna stay stock, don't bother regearing! I get 15mpg city/highway no matter what with my rubi, (410 gears) and when I have my 35 on it it's 13 mpg or worse, depends on how I drive!
As well you already have the 488 sitting at home so no waiting for new gear sets to show up. Quite second guessing and just do it!

Actually, the way it reads to me is that he is undecided, and planning to get a tire size to correspond to whichever gears the shop installs.
'If' he goes with 4.88's, he knows he will want 35's and a 2.5" lift. But what 'if' he gets 4.56? Or 4.10? Cart before the horse. He should decide on the future tire size, or get the tires and drive on them, before dropping money on the gears.

While I do have an Auto, I agree with pirate. Go 4:88's. I live in the relatively flat part of Ohio. My 4:88's do well when I head down to my property in SE Ohio. Pretty hilly down there and my rig runs great. 4:88's also give you the option of larger tires later on if you decide to go that route. The lift and all will need to be done....just keep your options open or you could be wishing you would have.

i know it would look awesome with a 3" lift and 35's, and I would be very happy with that, but what bothers me I guess is all this talk about a D30 breaking with gussets, sleeves and tuss's. Will I screw up with this build with 4.88's with keeping the D30? Like I said, I am not rough with my vehicles.

Yep! 4.88 is the happy medium with a D30 especially if you actually wheel your rig.
I'm dropping those in next month

I must add that I have a Poision Spyder front & rear bumper, which added about 180 to 200 lbs to my weight, and still need to get my winch. I will be adding skid plates but those are not enough weight to worry about.

I will also add that I very much appreciate ALL the input from EVERYONE who replied or will reply. This is why I log into this Jeep forum and not the others.

My setup was, poison spyder bumpers front and rear, 9.5cti winch, gobi roof rack, 2.5 lift, LOD sliders and I still thought 4.88 were a little much for regular hwy use.
