Default 4" to 5" lift

Currently my jeep is still stock but i am looking into upgrading to either a 4" or 5" lift. i want to run 33-35" tires and was looking into the iron rock lift for about $595. has anyone looked into this lift and is it any good? I also was looking into the Rancho lift. is 4" too much or am i gonna kick my self in the but for not going 5"? i dont want to spend more than $1200 ON THE LIFT. Or shoud i go with the 3". although some of the 3" lift dont look that beefy.

I've been running the rough country 4" kit for about a year, and put almost 15000 miles on it, I'm super happy with the performance and ride etc. and i think it only runs 575 usually free shipping.

4" is PLENTY for 35s and its borderline on the driveshafts.... if you're gonna wheel it, the front stock driveshaft will do, but its gonna be near it limits on travel. the rear is fine, at 5" i would say you would really be straddling that line of time to swap into an aftermarket driveshaft.... i'd recommend a 4" lift with whatever brand you choose, good luck

I don't know about Iron Rock ( I'm going to check it out after posting this ) but a 5 inch lift for a 600 bucks definately can't have everything you need.

To fit 33 or even 35s you don't need 5 inch, or even 4. I personally like clearance in the wheel wells so a 5 inch with 35s would look great in my opinion, but as I said you don't NEED it. 33s may look too small with a 5 inch lift. How about adding a 1 inch body lift to the susp lift you choose? Gives you a little more clearance and keeps your center of gravity ( and cost ) low.

Now I'm going to check out the lift...

well if i go with a 3" lift and end up going with the 33" tires, will the tire hit the fender when im out trailing? thats what i am worried about. i plan on going out to the big bear area and wanted to check out some the trails out there but i dont want to go and have problems and not be able to handle the terrain.

NIce, i think the price for the 3" lift is not that much cheaper than the 4". is there any bad reason for going with the 4"? should i stick to the 3"? Pros and Cons if any? Or is the 4" more for looks?

No, the 4" would be more for 35's or 37's.

If you're planning on staying with 33's for a while, then stick with the 3" (or even a BB will fit 33's).

alright, well thanks guys for all your help. I think i have come to a decision on my lift. I was thinking on getting a spacer lift or BB 2.5" but i was reading on another thread that it is better to go with new springs and shocks. I wonder if thats true. oh well, i will be asking the techs.
