Post 4.5" Short Arm Lift Kit Installed - Clicking noise coming from Diff when turning righ

Hi Guys,

I own a right hand JK 2009 Unlimited 4 door. I have recently installed a 4.5 inch lift kit, short arm, the guy has done a fantastic job, ride still feels smooth and stock even though she is jacked. The issue is that when I turn right at a round about I can hear a clicking sound, if I go to an open area and do loops, when going in a circle to the right the click becomes louder, it is coming from the diff area, when turning left the noise cannot be heard. When I asked this guy that installed the kit he advised that I will not need modifications to the diff with a 4.5 inch lift however the guys in the states, Fortec4x4 in particular advised me that anything over 4" will need diff modifications.

Has anyone had this issue before? any advice would be greatly appreciated, I just want to fix the right thing so I don't have ongoing issues.

PS the mechanic hasnt really helped out much in isolating the noise yet, claims it has nothing to do with the lift kit

"Clicking" as in a constant click-click-click, or a single click when you turn to the right?

A constant click click, for example if you go around a round about the clicks are gapped apart, if you increase the turn to the right then the click becomes more like a thump and you can feel the body of the car struggling, as if some mechanism underneath is caught.. ie diff which is what i assume?

I'm thinking it's your front drive shaft. Being a righthand drive and turning right, jeep slightly tilting to left, your front drive shaft angle is maxing out.

On a righthand drive Jeep, is the front drive shaft on the righthand side?

If you're gonna say drive shaft angle, at least provide him with what normal operating angles of the shaft should be. Not only that, but bad DS angles will cause vibration in the ride. He didn't list that as a symptom.

Take an angle finder tool and measure to see how many degrees your drive shafts are resting on.

Off the top of my head, I believe normal is 8 degrees front and 10 degrees rear..or vice versa.

--------------

Clicking sound, and being a right drive jeep your steering column and setup will be on the right. Something is making contact I guess. Did you try throwing the steering towards the side the noise is originating, stepping out of your jeep and inspect to make sure your steering components or any component is not making contact?

Do you have a front automatic locker?

Thanks for the advise so far guys. So let me also point out that the car is still on stock wheels and tyres, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I dont have automatic lockers, the cars only a 2010 model with appx 20000miles (appx 40000kms) I havent inspected it from the outside yet but I will do that today. Its like a rub/click, maxing out is a good way to describe it, its as if the part cannot move anymore and then drops back to its original place then repeats it..

Another note, when putting the car in 4WD mode, the clicking/rubbing is much worse and more sensitive when turning to the right, you cant hear it going straight or if you turn left, but as soon as you turn right, the car gets the effect of as if you were stalling the car... it sort of jerks with a clicking sound/rubbing
