Thumbs up 4.56 or 4.88 auto guys only please.

4.88's the RPM's aren't that different from 5.13's.. So I want some input on how you like or dislike your gears.. Do you wish you had another roughly 125-150 RPM's, by going 5.13's..
And I only plan on running 35's tops.. If you have 4.56's chime in as well too.

I had 4.56's in my 05' LJ running 35's with the same auto tranny.
So I know how the lower end torque helped with the straight six then.
That set up was fine for me, but this rig is different in the torque band, just curious how you 4.56/ 4.88 guys like your set ups behind the auto... Please no 4.56/4.88 haters here.. unless you are running them. Thanks..trying to keep it real here.

I don't have 4.56's or 4.88's, but I'll post anyway

Look at the pics in the first post in this thread.
https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/my-regearing-results-4-10-vs-5-13-content-99500/

And the chart a few posts down in this one:
https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/daily-driver-gearing-lockers-99514/

Then remind yourself about
but this rig is different in the torque band
And then decide if the rpm range that 4.56's will put you in is really where you want to be.

(Can't say I'm a hater of 4.56 or 4.88 gears, but I have an auto with 5.13's and 34's, and I wish I had gone with 5.38's...)

Well, I wasn't invited to post in this thread so I'll just drop off my chart.

Jpop, your chart was the second thread I linked. Glad you chimed in though.

Anyway, the OP has 33's now, so it's probably better to decide whether he's actually going up to 35's before choosing gears anyway.

Anyway, my guess is that the OP has read plenty of these threads, has already decided to under-gear, and is just looking for one person to tell him he'll be happy that way...
Sorry, must have missed it.

I too am under-geared and got away with it despite what the consensus was. However, that was with the stock 3.73 gears, a manual transmission and a good section of flat earth to drive on. When I do go to steeper gears, I'm definitely going deep along with some 37s and discard the D30.

I have 35's , and auot, and 5.13s and wish I had a lower gear, most of the time on the highway I drive with the overdrive off. Go lower.

I've got 4.88 gears and I'm glad I didn't go with 5.13 gears. At work We have two JKs that have 5.13 gears and they are satisfied with their choice. BUT... Steve won't drive his jeep more than a couple hours and Jake will tell you that I get 19mpg while his rig is in the low teens. Both will tell you that my jeep does as well in the mountains as their jeeps, yet it is much more comfortable in typical highway miles.

There are a lot of details missing here to paint the whole picture.

2 door or Unlimited?

Tire Size? Load Range?

After market bumpers?

auto or 6 speed?

Checked your profile and no one home.

Anyway, I can definitely figure out a few scenarios where that would work well, but it's pretty much left to my own devices to get there.
