4.75 backspacing with 12.50 wide tires with only a leveling kit. How far would my tires stick out past my fenders.

I have 4.5 backspace on my 17x 9in wheels. Here's some pics with my old 33x12.5 A/T's and TF 2.5 BB to give you an idea of how yours would look (plus 1/4in).

 

A 5bs works on a 35x9 wheel. The tire sticks out about .75 in. I just wouldn't go with that BS if you're rig is used a lot for hard core off Roading.

 

You wouldn't go with 5.0 backspacing, or you wouldn't go with 4.75?

 

I have 9 inch wide wheels and 305mm (12.50 inch) wide tires. A 9 with 4.75 will tuck in 1/4 inch more than this.

 

Usually when people ask how much a tire will stick out given a BS, they are concerned with it sticking out to far. I am one of those guys. The general rule when going with a 9in wide wheel is to stay within 4.5 - 4.75. After doing some research and learning others have tried it, I went with a 5BS and it works perfectly for how I use my Jeep. If I was going to do a lot of rock crawling, I would want greater tolerences (travel distances) so I would go with a 4.5 in that scenerio. If this is your daily driver that you will occasionlly put on the beach or trails, you can go with a 5BS.

Another thing. The general rule is also to stick with the tire size numbers printed on the side walls. When you go with a 5BS, you start to have to be more concerned about the actual tire size. A true 12.5 in tire on a 5BS wheel will not give you problems. The actual size of your tires doesnt always correspond to the numbers printed on the side wall. So if your tire is actually 13.75 wide, you will be much closer to rubbing then you would if you went with a 4.5 - 4.75 BS. Basically what I am saying is, sticking with a 4.5 - 4.75 BS allows you to ignore the true tire's dimensions without worrying about rubbing. You can go with a 5BS you just have to be cognizant of the tires true dimensions.

Youre welcome. You certainly did buy yourself more room with those fenders. I have a 5BS with 325/65-18 Duratracs. When I back up with the wheel cut all the way I rub on the air dam a little.

I see you're from Mississauga. I spent a lot of time in Hamilton in my late teens /early 20's. Almost got married at the Basilica there. Almost! LOL
