Default 4.88 gears?

How well will 4.88 gears work on 32s? I have 3.21 and 28s now, but found a place that can install 4.88 gears for $800.

You'll have lots of torque but you'll lose some of your top end speed. 4.11's with 32" tires is pretty much stock Rubi. I am running 4.88's with 35" and that works well.

I have an auto trans with 4.10s and 35s, I was going to go 4.88 but after alot of research and a talk with tkob1060, I am going with 5.13s.

I say Go For It! You'll be overgeared, but you know you want bigger than a 32" tire!! That'll be incentive to move up to a 33/35

4.88's would have been the best choice for the stock Rubicon Unlimited with the auto trans.

I agree. The 4.10's are good enough, though, to make it not worth changing unless going to 5.13 or more.

Just remember though, good work isn't cheap and cheap work isnt good. I would make sure the place you are going can do quality work and what you want.

with 4.88's and your 6-speed you'll find your probably going to be overgeared...now if your just running around town and do more trail riding than highway riding...then you'll probably be just fine...but I'm betting your gonna get the itch right quick to toss 35's on
