Default 4 door seat in a 2 door

Has anyone tried it? Expecting child # 3 so jeep's now officially too small. I know the wheel wells are the limiting factor but my jeep is lifted and I have offset wheels so I wouldn't miss a couple inches off my " tubs" if I had to modify them. I have a fair amount of body/ fab experience so that wouldn't be a problem. I would never compromise safety for me being cheap and not wanting to buy a 4 door so if the mounting is totally different I wouldn't do it. Just curious if any one with a family of 5 and a 2 door has done/ considered it? Thanks! Or is it time to start saving my pennies.........?

I think if you have the experience doing some serious body work and aren't afraid to modify the tub a bit, even if the mounting is different, you can probably figure it out and make it work. I've never tried it and am not even really sure what the difference is between the rear seat in a 4 door vs a 2 door, but it sounds doable if you aren't afraid to get a little crazy lol

Yeah, not afraid to get crazy! Just tend to get crazier when it comes to my safety and when it comes to my kids I seem to second guess my " craziness" a little. If a 4 door seat ( just the seat structure) can bolt to the 2 door mounting brackets that would be ideal. Then would jus have to deal with the " minor" width problem...

Maybe someone with a 4 door can measure the distance between the mounting points and maybe take a couple pics and post it all here for you. That should give you enough info to make a good decision.

The wheel wells add to the rigidity of the tub. Cut out a section, and that is compromised.

I figured that. It would be narrowed, not cut and left open.

I wasn't thinking you would leave it open.
It's the size and shape of it that adds rigidity. (Strictly automotive...don't anyone read anything else into that.)

Gotcha on both accounts : ) yeah, after looking at the wheel wells the rear cage mounts come almost to the edge of the hump anyways so, yeah, wouldn't want to be cutting anywhere near those .

I do have about 2 inches between the seat edge and the wheel wells on each side so maybe there is enough wiggle room to wedge a 4 door seat in there without modifying the tub. Anyone have the width of a 4 door rear seat? My 2 door's seat is 40 inches wide.
