Default 4 door windjammer

Can the wind jammer be used without a duster? Does it touch the floor, or strap to the floor or something? The side gaps look like a bit of a problem to me. Mabye I could extend them somehow? I have the soft top door surrounds, so that would help a little. Thanks!

Can it be used without the Duster? Well I guess it's not supposed to.. I just wanted to use it to cut down on the wind for the kids with the soft top windows out and the sunrider open. I punched some grommets thru the bottom, under the strip where it attaches to the duster, and put some bungee cords from there to the child seat hooks on the back of the seat. Worked like a charm. Just took a little modification, like anything on a Jeep! I also didn't liek how low it sat off the rollbar, so I got a piece of pvc pipe, cut it the same width as the rool bar, put it on top, and used the velcro attached to the windjammer to fasten it. Works good, but the bungees had to be adjusted so it wouldn't bow the top. As far as the side gaps, Once I moved it up, it seamed to looked more "right". I'll look and see if I have a picture, but I doubt it. If it stops raining, I'll go put it on really quick, so I show you what I'm talking about. Good Luck!

It's designed to hook into the Duster (I'm talking about the four door Windjammer, not the two door Windjammer that some folks have successfully pressed into service on their four doors):

I have the 3 piece combo (Safari top, duster, windjammer) I love the top and duster, not impressed at all with the windjammer. Let me qualify that: for front seat passengers, the windjammer does cut down on the buffeting. For back seat riders, like my 9 year old and 2 1/2 year old daughters, it sucks. They would rather just ride with the top and duster combo. The open areas to the side of the windjammer suck in air and tie their hair into knots. Kind of blows long hair (even in a pony tail) across their faces. If you get a slight rain, it actually PULLS water in from the sides.

I am actually probably going to try the 2 door wraparound windjammer. A tip a friend of mine who has 2 JK's passed on, is to buy one used if you are putting it on a 4 door. He said his first one was new and it was a complete pain to put on and take off for the first 4 or 5 months. The next one he bought used, and he said it was already stretched out a bit and was much easier to put on.

Good info! The 4 door wind jammer is out. So how well would the 2 door wind jammer work on my 4 door? I want it to fill the space. Not leave gaps. But I don't want wrap around because I want to leave it in with the hard top on. (doggy barrier). Do you think it would work well for me? Thanks!

I don't know that anyone has used a two door Windjammer on a four door. Everyone that I recall used the two door Wraparound Windjammer because they wanted the extra protection. You may be treading into new territory.

Well, mabye I'll give it a shot. It looks nice and wide, and goes all the way down to the seat bracket. I think I'll just have to figure out how to mount the sides of it because of no roll bar there. I could make a fake rollbar out of PVC for the side mounts like clownhunter69 did for his top mount. Could somebody get me some measurements on it, and that will give me a better idea how it will fit.

Default 4 Door Windjammer

I currently have on the 2 door windjammer and duster deck cover on my 4 door JK, along with a Bestop safari soft top. I don not have problems with the windjammer and duster since i added extra tie straps for more closure. I am however having problems with the Bestop safari top; it tends to leak thru near the fron tof the front doors where the top has the extra stretch part or something. Does anyone have any ideas how to help with the rain leaking on the safari top? also any new ideas with the windjammer and duster cover would be nice. i just have 2 pieces of wood holding up the duster for the rain the drain to the sides.. - sharky
