410-513s
The pinion gets TINY. Its significantly weaker than a 4.10 gear set. If you look around a bit on here, you will come across several post of people blowing their 5.13 gear sets. I still stand by not going lower than 4.56's with a D44.
Here are the tooth counts (these do vary by manufacturer):
4.10
Ring: 41
Pinion: 10
4.56
Ring: 50
Pinion: 11
4.88
Ring: 39
Pinion: 8
5.13
Ring: 41
Pinion: 8
And, here is a photo of a factory JK 4.10 next to a 4.88:

I don't recall reading many, if any, failures of properly installed 5.13s. Where are all these posts of properly installed 5.13s blowing?
In fact, when WOL had his catastrophic front axle failure, his chromoly front axle shafts failed prior to his 5.13 gears. When he had rear axle failures, the stock Rubi locker failed before his 5.13 gears.
Chromoly axle shafts and stock Rubi lockers are weaker than properly installed 5.13 gears.
We just pulled the 5.13s out of my wife's 4 dr Rubi on 37s to install 5.38s--without any hesitation.

This is one of the rears people go with Ford 9's in TJ's in back, it has a pinion support and a huge pinion compared to a D44. Its also one of the biggest things you gain when going with a D60.

WOL has gone through two sets of rear R&P's.
I'd suggest qualifying any of the people blowing up gears, taking into account any other circumstances involved. Hemi? Lead foot in the rocks? Pushing 40+ inch tires?
Personally, I wouldn't compare someone with 35's, a stock engine and a light foot blowing up gears to someone with a hemi and 42's. A mild build and a light foot, and you shouldn't need to worry much about the gears. Big tires and romping up through the rocks, and ...
