5.13 with 35s?
Ive got an automatic unlimited with 35" tires and ive still got whatever the stock gears it had are....im looking to fix that but can you really put 5.13s in there? what effect will that have? what im aiming for is better gas mileage because i do travel to get to wheelin spots and of course more power on and off road....i hate having to go into low to get up a sandy hill or something because my tires have come to a complete stop even when im stomping the gas...and i hate having to turn overdrive off while im on the road to keep from slowing down when i go over and overpass....
i guess im just wondering if getting 5.13s will fix this problem?
thanks

Yes.
Though if you travel a whole lot, 4.88s might make you happier. There are over a hundred threads on this topic, read through them. Also try to find members near you with the different options that might let you try them out. Numbers are great, but no substitute for just driving.

Ignore any post with a six speed or the number four in it. Six speeds are entirely different animals and 4.88/56/10's are for people reading some chart they found on the internet and not for folks who actually have to suffer with having them. If you have Dana 44's front and rear 5.38 is the way to go. If you have a D30 in the front you may want to scale back to 5.13's. 5.13's are great for 33's, but man I wish I'd have put the 5.38's in with my 35's. But still, use that search. There are probably more threads on gears than anything else. Just be sure to separate fact (actual owners with the gears installed) from opinion (chart readers and folks with calculators.)
Hey Dutch, you're hearing from the chart boys. I have 5.13's with 35's but am wishing for 5.38's. I'm hitting <2400 at 70 on the flat with OD on. All of my driving is at 6000 feet or better mostly up or down hill and of course going uphill causes all kinds of shifting. It's okay though. You should have seen it when I had the 4.10's in there. I have every imaginable piece of steel on it so it's carrying quite a bit of weight. I picked up the AEV Procal, but there are still some shift points I really hate. I'm taking a long hard look at the Superchips Falspaq. If the shifting can be changed a bit I might actually come to like the 5.13's. According to the computer, I'm getting 18.6 mpg on the hiway and 17.8 in town. That's with tire size and gear ratio being set by the Procal.

Seer, I'd advice you to get the Superchips Flashpaq. I carry RR full skids and plenty of steel around with me everyday and understand the weight issue.
The flashpaq will give you better shifting points and the engine will come alive.
This is on 4.10 gears and 35's. I tend to have a heavy foot, so i am always between 2-3000 RPM's.
The Flashpaq is also updatable online, so as they come up with better programming, you'll be able to take advantage of that.
