im running 5.13s in a 2dr with 37s with auto! no problems what so ever! but with the 35s it was overgeared and my MPGs suffered. if your running a manual unlimited i wouldnt go any lower than 5.13s! 538s will have you overgeared and you wont like the results in the wallet for fuel! if your manual do you have 3.21s? you could always go with a thick gear and keep the smaller carrier

I didnt ask if he had an auto i said I do! I saw that he has a manual and that is why I said that! as for the 3.21s i dont know what his gearset is for a manual! that is why i asked. why dont you worry about your posts and not mine!

Will the truck be the tow vehicle, making the JK your off-road only toy? Or will the JK be used for freeways to and from the trail? How much freeway time will it see, and how far? Do you play in the rocks, and is pinion size a concern? Any plans of going bigger than 37?

As noted above, 5.38 may not be your best choice for a manual. 4.88 and 5.13 are very popular for that setup.

I run 37's and a 6-speed with 5.13's. I'd get 5.38's if I had it to do over again because my 38's go on tomorrow.

I currently run 5.13s with 37's on a 6 speed. It's perfect on the highway, but lugs on the mountain roads. I wouldn't go to 5.38's on a D44 though. Way too many people have broken their pinion gear.

Have you ever run 35's with your 5:13 gears?

Reason I ask. I have a 6sp 2 door and have 35's now but don't plan on getting 37's till my 35's wear out. I have 4:10 gears now and my jeep is gutless!! Like pulling a trailer everywhere I go. How bad would 5:13's be with 35's?
