Default 5.13 gears

I have a Sahara unlimited with a 2.5" coil lift with 35" tires..would switching to 5.13 gears from the stock ones be worth the cost of them and instillation? How much will my mileage improve also? And I ordered one and it doesn't specify whether it's for the front or the rear..can it be for either or?

I have a '10 JKU with 2" lift, 35's on steel wheels, 5.13 gears, superchip, and it's with an auto tranny. Going down the highway at 65 mph I get 17 mpg, 15 mpg in town. The gears make all the difference for offroading and towing. It's worth it to me. If you have a manual 4.88 would be enough for you though.

IMHO, 5.13s are too low for 35s. When I went to 5.13s from 3.73s and 37s my mileage dropped on the freeway from 17 to 15.5. City went up from about 13.5 to 15. With only 35s I would expect your mileage to be even worse than that I experienced. My figures are correct as well since I had a tuner before the gear swap.

IMO, I would have been better off with 4.88s and my 37s. For 35s I think you would be best off with 4.56s.

Btw, my figures were on an 08 JKU with a juice tranny, Hypertech tuner, Viper TB and k and n filter.

So who all recommends me going with a 4.88 and a programmer or a 5.13 and a programmer? *remember I'm focused on better gas mileage mainly

I may be wrong but I can't see 4.88's getting considerably better gas mileage than 5.13's. I have 5.13's, 35's, automatic, and tuner and I wouldn't go any lower. I'm very happy with the mpg and performance considering the set up.
