Default 5.13 gears question

Sorry if this has been covered but I'm on a cell phone and the search function and my phone don't seem to like each other.
I was talking to a guy at a local auto shop and I was asking about having 5.13s put on my jeep. He told me they'll fit in the rear, but not in the front. Told me I'd need a new carrier and that the Dana 30 in the front just won't allow them to fit. Highest I could go is 4.88.
Like I said before I can't seem to do a search at the moment, but I'm pretty sure people are putting in 5.13s. Am I wrong?
FYI: 08 stock X 4dr auto.

Thanks for the quick reply. I wanted to argue with him but I don't have anything to back up my claims. Lol

I believe it depends on whether or not your JK came with factory 4.10's in the front D30. If it came factory with the 3.21s then you will need a different carrier. If 3.73's or 4.10s then no new carrier needed.

Call a dealer and get a build sheet with your VIN #. This will tell you what gears you have.

This link has all the answers.

I thought 3.73's didnt need a new carrier, just with the 3.21's...

The only thing you should need is the gears with install kit or the gears with overhaul kit depending on the mileage on your Jeep. However, if wanting lockers or diff covers it would be the perfect time to get those also since it's opened up already.

If it's 4wd, you need front and rear.
If it's 2wd, you only need rear.
If it's 4wd, and you only want to do the rear, pull the front driveshaft!!
