5.13's 35's w/ 6-speed?
So the time has come to re-gear. I've heard for 35's with the 6-speed that 4.88's will return to stock. I wouldn't mind a little extra power so I'm considering 5.13's. Anybody running this setup? Any recommendations? Thanks everyone.
Having checked them all out a bunch, I would say it's the ideal setup unless you spend a lot of time on the Interstate running 80-85mph.
In that case 4.88 or even 4.56 gears would be preferable.
At 80mph with my 6-Speed Rubicon (4.11 gears) I'm running 2800rpm, changing to a 5.13 gear will put that up to about 3500rpm.
4.88 gears will be about 3300rpm and 4.56 gears would be about 3100rpm.
More importantly, 65mph with 5.13s is about 2800+rpm, right where you want it, the 4.11 is 22-2300, the 4.56 is 2500, the 4.88 is almost 2700.
The 6-speed gives tremendous flexibility, so it's pretty happy with 4.11 gears if you don't mind downshifting a bit, or just cruising in 5th when it's not flat terrain, and with the Rubicon transfer case it's still great offroad. But if I could swap my gears out right now, for free, and could pick any ratios available, I'd do the 5.13 ratio.
After all, it is a Jeep, and offroad, the 6-speed and 5.13 gears on 35s is just plain and simple, MAGIC!

I just put 5:13s on my 6 speed unlimited with 35s. I love it. I drive 70 on the highway and pull around 2800 RPMs in 6th. Cruse holds that speed even up hills with no problem. Have not run an entire tank through but my gague reads a steady 16.4 mpg and before the gears I only saw 14 on the gague. Not sure why the difference unless the chip is helping me. I will do a manual calculation over the next few tanks to see if its real... I do have the superchip programmer and thats all. Feels more like stock than anything. I hated my 4:10s with the 35s as first gear was too tall and 6th was useless over big hills and had to down shift on the highway and could pass nobody. Now its all back to normal with the chip and the 5:13s. Can't wait to take it to Colorado next month and see how it all came together.
I had 5.13's and 35's on my 2dr 6speed. LOVED it. I now put my 2dr back to stock, and put its axles (5.13's) under my new 4dr JK automatic.....Its a dog. down shifting all the time, powerless. I hate it.
Its the same suspension, tires, wheels, axles lockers, bumpers everything that was on my 2dr went onto my 4dr. My 2dr hualed a$$. My 4dr SUCKS! I guess thats why so many people are swaping in Hemi's or Superchargers. The automatic really kills the power.

Would the 5.13 R&P be to small for a D30? i have heard some say yeah and no. i was thinking about the 5.13 but idk about the R&P being so small for the D30 or does it depend on how heavy your right foot is?
