Default 5:13's / With 37's

Ok All,

I just got my JK back from having my 5:13's installed. All I can say is

After all of the pro's and con's and all of the worries, I can honesty tell anyone thinking of doing a re-gear that the 5:13's hands down is the way to go.

Please, don't lose no sleep trying to decide between 4:88's and 5:13's. Do the 5:13's if you have 37" tires and Auto trans.

In town or highway driving they are just right. However, I did use my Hypertech to re-calibrate my speedo and shift points.

Looks good boots. I agree the 5:13s w/ 37s are the way to go with the auto trans. Other than the 13 mpg, I really like my set-up.

I love the look of your wheels and tires, and confirmation by you and Mowabb about the 5.13's just cast it in stone.

Argent Pintlers with 37's. KM2's are hard to find but the guy at Costco says he will have them for me in 5-7 days at $290 per tire. That's about a $hitl@^d less than NTB and Discount tire! I have decided on this mod with the FT LA 4" kit and 5.13's, and will be ordering this on Monday and dropping my Jeep off on Friday (going to Big sky for 8 days!!!) to be ready to go shortly after I get home.

And new driveshafts. Still trying to figure Woods vs Reels. Any thoughts?

Losing sleep,............

I did'nt do drive shafts. I think if I were to do them I would have to go with WOODS. I used his drive shafts on my CJ and had no trouble with them at all.

In fact that's saying alot about (Woods) drive shafts, because I was alot yoounger then and beat the S**t out of that poor Jeep.

No Lockers for Now. I think if I go with Lockers later, I would do a swap out with my front axle for the Dana 44. I can't see putting all that money into a Dana 30......

As far as missing for a few day's. Have been sicker than a wet dog on a cold night. :whoaisme:

ps: buy the way speaking of missing, when are we going to see some more mods from you ?

Default I agree with 5.13's

I have 37's w/ a six speed. First is a bit low but it's fine. I went with JE Reel drivelines and they seem to be holding up. I would like to ask you about your spare how did you make it fit with your stock bumper? Thanks!

Used a AEV spare spacer, then installed the AEV third brake light.

First, have a great time in Big Sky! My wife and I are going to Jackson next week.

I am sure either of your drive line options would be good choices.

I know I am walking on thin ice because of the forum sponsor issue-sorry, but I just want to share my opinion. I would go with the "Woody's". I had the opportunity to tour his facility last week. His shop was immaculate! The pride of his workmanship was very apparent. Of all the companies I have worked with during my build, Tom's customer service was the best.
