Default 5th wheel set up for spare.

So I just got my rubi. Its an 11 2 door with a 5in lift and had a set if 4 37s and a sport spare. I just traded the wheels and tires for 5 37s on beadlocks. Came with an aftermarket rear bumper but no tire carrier. I kinda don't wanna run an exterior carrier. Dont have the cash flow and don't really care for noises they make. So I've been thinking about making an interior mount like a 5th wheel set up kinda thing. I don't ever have my back seat in and all I haul on a wheeling day are my tools, a small cooler and my power tank. Was curious if anyone has ever made one and would ya share some pics.

Tons of different set ups have been done. I think I saw a thread on this once before. We plan on making one for our JK and then possibly putting it into production depending how the prototype comes out.

Here's an idea - not sure if it's for u.. But one of the guys I work with has a TJ and is an older wheeler. He says they used to carry inner tubes and a plug kits. Get a bad flat, stuff the sidewall With plugs (if that's where the damage is) and shove an inner tube in tire. I imagine it would probably take a little longer than just changing out a spare, but then again- its rare that I ever even get a flat. I only got a flat once and it wasn't tire damage, just a bead that came off the wheel. Hell, u can even carry a couple tubes incase u had more than one flat

My main concern is that I would want it to fit under my top.

Idk I sorta like having a spare. Plus I'm running beadlocks with PVC inserts so plugging a tire wouldn't be bad but trying to put a patch in would just be a pain in the ass on a trail.

You can also carry a can of starter fluid in case you pop a bead.

I use to have to do that with skid loader tires. Works great. Just gotta make sure the tire is secure to something lol
