Default 6hrs from home and need HELP!

Ok. Just finished the whipsaw trail in BC. Towards the end I noticed my steering wheel was slanted to the left and the jk was pulling to the right. After stopping to air up I noticed the passenger front tire was pointed out slightly. When I drove across the lot I was in with my wheel held straight the jk would drive to the right.

Now I read the project jk "do it yourself alignment" and from what I can tell my stock tie rod may have bent causing the wheel to go off center and putting the toe out. I can not see a visible bend though. I just drove 200 k and I kept it at 100 kmhr cause at about 120 kmhr i would start to feel a shimmy similiar to a tire balance shimmy.

So I'm gonna try to adjust my toe in. I have a tf 2.5 coil lift with 33" tires.

When doing this do I just adjust it until the front and rear of both front tires measure the same distance apart?

Im not relishing the thought of driving another 6 hours like this and doubt the Local dealership will help.

Thanks for your help.

Im not sure how much of an issue your having but the steering wheel can easily be adjusted by adjusting the drag link... There might be a write up on that, it takes loosening two bolts. That may be a start to getting things straitened out again.

You can only adjust the drivers side tie rod end (will lengthen and shorten the rod of course). Loosen the bolt, then turn the adjusting sleeve (pliers) and watch the direction of the tires. A little gets you a lot of movement.
X2 on this......

yeah.... moving the wheel is easy....loosen the two 15 mm nuts on the drag link and then rotate the sleeve... gonna take trial and error to get it where ya need it..... simple though

Wow. Thanks for the quick replies. Yeah I tried just doing the wheel first and after that didn't work I researched it and came to the conclusion about the toe. Now when I read wols alignment write up he said to adjust to 1/8 for tires sizes 35 and up. So with my 33s do I still go 1/8 in on each tire? I just don't want to "fix" the problem only to get dw on my6 hr ride home on the highway

If all else fails, get a u-haul and trailer. It's alot cheaper then a tow. Good Luck

You definately don't wanna go too much toe in. My fronts were pretty chewed up after 4000m, ended up finding out I was running 1/2in toe in. Those are now worn twice as much as my other tires, prolly lost 8-10,000m outta them

This may be a stupid question but do I need to lift the front end in order to make the toe in adjustments? I've been doing it with the tires on the ground ( and sweating like crazy) and it dawned that maybe I might be doing more harm than good?

No, the tires will move in or out on the ground.

I thought the ideal toe for a JK with 33's or less was stock or especially when you consider most 33's are really only about 1/2"taller than the stock rubi tires anyway....
