Default 6speed 4.88's 35's and 37's

Ok guys, I've read a ton on gears and I've decided to go with 4.88's. I don't want any other opinions on other gear ratios just 4.88's. I run 35's now and want to have some feedback of the on and offroad performance.

Also I'm looking into 37's after I gusset axle. This will be later on. On and offroad performance as well....

Thanks

IMO 4.88s and 35's with the manual is almost perfect. Good performance in city, hwy, and offroad.

I don't have personal experience, but if you offroad a bunch 4.88 may be slightly high for 37s. Remember that 35 to 37 is significantly larger circumference jump than 33 to 35.

I just regeared to 4.88 haven't taken it off road yet but the performance is great compared to the 3.21. Lots of power and you have a granny gear, since you don't have to start off in first on the hardball.

I gussetted and sleeved before I went to 35's, ran them a week before I regeared.

Just installed 4.88's yesterday and took it out wheeling today. I am rocking 33's and it made a HUGE difference. Lots of power, right now I am looking at going to 35's, since I am running 3100 RPMs at 75 MPH.

I'm running 35s with 4.88s in my 6 speed. I think they're awesome for 35s. They'd probably be considered a "performance gear" for 35s. They spin about 3,000 RPM at 75 MPH (which doesn't bother me at all). The crawl ratio (with the 4:1 transfer case) is amazing.

On 37s they'd probably be considered the perfect all around gear for on-road and off-road use. If you do a lot of highway driving they'd probably be perfect (probably 2,750 RPM at 75 MPH). But if you are a hardcore offroader and the offroad performance matters more than cruising down the highway at 80 MPH you might want to go steeper.

I am upgrading to 37s from 35s and regearing to 4.88s. My mechanic says that this is the BEST ratio for my setup. He has another truck on 37s with 4.88s and the customer is very happy. I've been driving with stock gearing and 35s for 2 years now. It's a bit sluggish on the highway. The 4.88s with 37s will help with that. I do a lot of wheeling and also have a daily driver. I also plan on eventually upgrading to an ATLAS 4 speed transfer case which has a 10:1 setting which takes care of the low end. The 4.88s will also be perfect if you decide to install a V8 Hemi.

I plan to go with 4:88's when I re-gear. I am running 3:73's with 37's now. It sucks when negotiating big rocks.
