Default 7° caster ok if modifying axle?

In my old xj I was building a hybrid Currie 9/44 front axle. Based on the measurements I gave Currie they set my Inner C's to have about 7° of caster with my flat top knuckles . I never did finish the Jeep and parted it out.

If I was to do another custom axle or modify my current d44 axle with old school C's and flat top knuckles would I want to shoot for the same angle? Is there an ideal caster angle, or does height, wheel base, tire size come into play when determining ideal caster?

Go to Dynatracs website and find the ProRock 44. At the bottom of the screen is a Downloads tab, click the PR44 FAQ. You'll find some information and a diagram on the caster built in to their 'JK' axles that may help.
