Default 8020 aluminum extrusion

Thinking of making a cargo rack to go in the back of my jeep to hold my cooler when my back seat is not in and i plan on doing it with 8020 extrusion. Got me to thinking, has anyone else built anything for their jeep from extrusion? Post up some pics!

seems like a great idea. I have been kicking around doing something like that only I want to make a frame to fill in the area where the backseat used to go on my 4 door. I removed the backseat so looking for a way to make it level all the way back yet allow me to store stuff in the footwell area.

I find this mounting system to be a convenient and sturdy way to mount my GoPro, Ham radio, CB radio, and other stuff. I did not have to drill any holes and it "floats" above the dash.

How did you attach that bar to your dash?

Default Method to secure dash mount

Each end of the T-Slot bolts to a bracket that curves down to fit between the door and dash. The lower part of each bracket is secured to the body using the two bolts on each side that help secure the dash to the body.

There are no holes in the dash at all and the t-slot clears the raised center part of the dash by approx 3/16 of an inch. In my JKU (2013 10 year anniversary model) there is a bolt in the upper tray of the dash that could also have been used as an additional location to secure the t-slot but it turns out it is plenty ridged without using this option.

I powder coated the t-slot and both brackets flat black to (1) blend in with the dash and (2) to not reflect light.

Cool, thanks. I figured it was probably something like that, but it was hard to tell by the pictures.

Default Dash extrusion mounting brackets

Here are a couple of pictures to clarify how the t-slot mounts to the body.
