True, which is why they make winch rope extensions. Amsteel Blue is available by the foot. Get any length you want.

It's an extension. You run out your 45' and attach the Amsteel and pull. I've never had to pull something more then 50'. Most winch pulls are only 5' till you get the vehicle off or out of whatever situation it's in, unless you decide to get stuck in the middle of a mud bog. So, as long as your able to get within about 45' of whatever needs pulling your good.

I have it, and wheeling in the Northeast, I'm guessing the most line I've ever pulled out to make a pull was 30'. I've never had a problem with it. It's weight was a big deciding factor for me. It didn't create more sag in the front end. If, you go with it and find that the lenght of the syn. line isn't long enough, you could go with the extension that was mentioned, put on a steel cable (which will add weight), move to a 5/16" syn. line (which will have a lower load rating), or add a longer 3/8" syn. line and just wrap the extra length around a grill guard/brush guard/light bar that come on most aftermarket bumpers (might have to fab up some sort of brakets to keep it in place).

Exactly. In the rare instances that the 45' pull doesn't get you unstuck, re-set your extension line and pull another 45 feet.

I'm sure there are people who wheel in places such that they're regularly pulling longer distances. In those cases then they'd do well to select a setup with a long line.

With a permanent long line your short pulls are always on the outer spools and you never realize the full power of your winch unless you unspool the outer layers and either double-line or select more distant anchor points. With a short line you will sometimes need to use an extension line.

Yep, and that way it's out of elements stashed in your recovery bag with your other gear. Nothing "extra" to keep up with then since it's stowed safely right where you know to find it.

I have the opportunity to get this winch for about $800. Just wanted to see what opinions are for this model.
