I just heared that the dealer is going to cancel the guaranty if he noticed that im using any programmer cables.

my question is, if I retain the stock program can he know that I used the superchips flashpaq before???

 

no. before you go into the dealer, make sure to restore your programming back to stock. you'll want to do this regardless as leaving it on will screw up your flashpaq.

 

Superchips stance on it:

I saw one post a while back indicating that the dealer saw that 'something' had changed with the programming, but could not tell specifically 'what' had changed. (second hand info, no clue if it is correct)

 

ok, I mean if I had any problem with stock programming in the future, the dealer must plug his own programmer to see the problem. can he know that I used Superchips Flashpaq before? even if I restore my stock program before I go into the dealer

 

I had a problem with a dealer when I went in for a recall and they brought this to my attention that it appears that someone modified settings in the computer. When using the flashpaq and returning the settings back to stock it does not change some of the settings back. The setting that they caught me on and complained about was the TPMS sensor being disabled still after retuning back to stock and wanted to know how I did it. I dont think they could tell exactally what programmer did it besides knowing that the TPMS sensors were turned off somehow. I just played stupid and they told me they were making a note attached to my VIN so any dealer can check for this problem again. I talked with someone at Superchips and there were a couple of settings that customers were mentioning that they also noticed don't get changed back when just using the return to stock. I am not sure if any current updates from Superchip were to fix this, but if you disable the TPMS sensors due to not having them to turn off the light my advice would be to make sure when you return back to stock that you also re-enable the TPMS sensors. Some dealers don't care about things like this and others like the dealer close to me can be idiots about things at times.

Dealers will know if you tinkered with the computer. any manufacturer can find out. Now some custom tunes for different vehicles do have "stealth" tunes that are undetectable by dealer scanners.

If I know my Jeep is going to the dealer I make sure I set it to stock and make sure I have a couple of days of driving history and a few start/stop cycles. A Jeep tech told me that If you set it back to stock right before it goes in it leaves a hole in the history that flags them that you've messed with it.

 

So, if one does use a programmer and change back to stock and the dealer calls them on this ("Do you use a programmer?"), is it best to play dumb or fess up - with the goal of keeping your warranty intact?
